National ACT Averages for 2009

Much like the SAT, the ACT has an uncanny ability to garner consistent scores from its test takers. Of the approximate 1.5 million test takers, the average cumulative score was a 21.1. Students, on average, earned a 20.6 in English, a 21 in Math, a 21.4 in Reading, and a 20.9 in Science.

How does this stack up to last year's averages? Perfectly. in 2008, the average composite score was a...21.1.

As I review these averages, I can't help but respect the ability of the test designers to set a score target for students and achieve it every year. It's almost as remarkable as the engineers who created an underwater train passage between England and France. Okay, not really. The Chunnel is miraculous.

In case missed my earlier post of the National SAT averages for 2009, here they are.
