Should I apply early or take the SAT again?

Parents and students are too often influenced by misleading data, such as a higher percentage of students are admitted early decision to the most selective schools. While this may be true at some schools, keep in mind that schools have their most qualified candidates in that pool. I would even argue that at many schools it's actually more competitive applying early.

If you remember one thing, remember this: present the best application. If you're SAT score is just shy of the test average at a school you'd love to attend, hold off, study, take another test, and apply regular admission. Chances are you will land at your dream school with a little patience and perseverance.
