Hammer vs the Big Companies

We don't try to compete with the big companies such as Revolution Prep and Princeton Review. We focus on a hands-on-super-positive experience with every student instead of what other companies are doing. We have a big enough challenge just trying to service the hundreds of families that work with us each year. But it's inevitable that parents often ask how we compare, so we decided to provide a snapshot.

Before you read the comparison table, here are a few things to consider. First, we are comparing private tutoring services. Second, many of these companies offer several tiers of service. Since our tutors prepare students full-time with an average experience level of 2700 hours, we used each company's mid to high level service offering for comparison.

Here is how we stack up according to some very basic research.

Hourly Minimum hours Money Back Guarantee Proprietary Curriculum Points/hour
Hammer Prep $110-$130 No No Yes 8
Revolution Prep
(Premium level)
$190-$250 8 hrs at $250/hr No Yes Not available
Princeton Review
(Premier Tutoring)
$275-$290 10 hrs at $290/hr Yes, but read the fine print. Yes Not available

We'd enjoy hearing about both your positive and negative tutoring experiences. We welcome your stories in the comment section.
